Nama and Bhajan Satsang in Corpus Christi, Texas

Sri Venkateshwara Temple of Corpus Christi, TX had invited members of Houston Namadwaar to conduct a Nama sankirtan and bhajan satsang at their premises on Sep 17, Saturday, evening. The satsang was arranged by Sri Guru Maharaj’s devotee Swaminathanji from Chennai. Corpus Christi is a city about 200 miles south of Houston along the Texas Gulf coast.

The satsang started around 5 PM with a 20-25 min pravachan in English by Swaminathanji about the easy path of Nama kirtan. Following this the Houston members led Mahamantra chanting for about 20 minutes. After that, the Houston team conducted a bhajan session, led by Sriramji and Zeniji and accompanied by Muktha, Lekshmiji, Nishaji, and Ram ji on the dholki. Several bhajans were sung, including many songs composed by Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji, some Namavalis and some abhangs. Most of the songs picked were Sanskrit/Hindi-based and some songs from other languages, including Telugu, Gujarati and Marathi were also included. The meaning of some of the songs were explained a little by Sriramji before the song was sung. Finally, before Mahamantra kirtan (Kaliyaiyum bali kollum) was sung, Sriramji talked for a few minutes about the greatness of Nama sankirtan and specifically chanting the Mahamantra. All the participants then sang the song with great enthusiasm. Overall about 30-35 people participated in the satsang and they were all very happy at the end of it and said they enjoyed it very much.
